Kati Thanda

(Lake Eyre, South Australia)

A view from above shares this natural wonder in all its glory. Lake Eyre, officially known as Kati Thanda—Lake Eyre, is, on the rare occasions that it fills, the largest lake in Australia and has the same salinity level as the sea. As the lake dries up and the water evaporates, the salinity increases, leaving the perfect and natural formations of salt, contrasted against the many pastel colours and earthy hues which can be found across this 9,500 sq km lake that lies in this lucky country we call Australia.
